Classes / Changes this week!

What a wonderful weekend and thank-you for an amazing week of yoga last week.  We certainly paid homage to our Muladhara / Root Chakras with all those lovely hip openers! (More on the Muladhara).

This week we will be focusing on the Sacral or Svadhisthana Chakra.  This chakra is associated with the colour orange.  How appropriate with the leaves turning and all the pumpkins!  The chakra also connects us to our ability to experience pleasure, pleasure = chocolate, and chocolate = Halloween!

Therefore there will be NO CLASSES on Thursday Oct 27th (Halloween prep) or on Monday Oct 31st!  We will still be holding our Saturday classes this week, so come out and join us for a treat! (Our schedule has more details).

Namaste,

Marlene & Sharon

Shake Your Chakras!

Join us in class as we explore the 7 main chakras together!  Over the next 7 weeks, we will be infusing our yoga classes with a little chakra theory, focus, and fun.

Beginning with classes on Monday Oct 17th, we will work our way up the spine from the Muladhara (Root) Chakra to our final destination on Week 7 of the Sahasrara (Crown) Chakra at the top of the head.  Each week will be filled with information, mediation, breathe work and more to help you gain a greater awareness of the potential healing powers within your own body!

If you are still trying to find the time to fit Yoga into your life, this is a perfect time to join us for these 7 weeks of a light-hearted approach to well being.  (See our schedule for a class that works for you).

How can our awareness of the chakras help us in everyday life?

Yogis believe that our basic physical and mental health depends on the functionality of the chakras as they “manage” our energy.  The chakras allow energy to flow but they can become blocked by life events.  Each of the 7 chakras are related to particular functions on the physical and psychological level.   For example, people who feel confused, or perhaps very fearful may have a depleted Root (Muladhara) chakra.  On the other hand if they are overly possessive, and controlling it may mean that energy from the Root chakra needs to be released as it might be blocked.  Physical aliments like chronic lower back pain or sciatica can also benefit from balancing the Root chakra energy.

Therefore, learning to become aware of the chakras and unlocking a “blocked” chakra or balancing a chakra, could be the key creating a healthier life for body, mind, & spirit.

(More about the Chakras?)

Looking forward to seeing you in class,

Namaste,
